Self-Care for Busy Moms: Eating Well, Mediterranean Diet Recipes, Time Management, Stress Management, Strength Exercise

Are you struggling to stay consistent to a healthy diet? Do you feel frustrated with the setbacks from poor food choices that affect your body and mood? Is it a challenge to maintain motivation to exercise regularly given your busy schedule?

I am so excited you’re here! This podcast will help you find ways to have habits for physical health and fitness, and for mental and spiritual wellbeing so you can have long-term strength and greater peace!

Hey, I’m Susan. A friend of Jesus, a wife, and boy mom.  For many years, I struggled with finding time, motivation or the discipline to exercise regularly or have any self-care.  My life was increasingly busy with my kids and their schedules and I lacked consistency and habits that put importance on self-care.  My striving to keep everything going smoothly in my family pushed me to ignore many things…balance, friendships, mental drain, overwhelm, mild depression.

I finally realized that in order to have physical health as well as mental well-being and peace, I needed to slow down and tend to myself in order to be there for my family. I focused on physical therapy and strategies to relax and de-stress through self-care. This started a decades-long process of learning to find what works and does not work for me.

I created a strategy that works with ME. A step by step process that I could actually stick with. Even when there are times I fall off, this process helps me get back on track faster so that I can stay the course over time for long-term health and strength. And I’m ready to share it with you!

If you are ready to finally implement strategies for busy moms so you can have…
Physical Health and Fitness,
Mental and Spiritual Strength,
Discipline and Consistency,
Personal Time and Relaxation,
- this podcast is for you!

Grab your step counter and don't forget your sunscreen!  It's time to walk together!

Are you traveling during the holidays?  Do you need encouragement to move your body in a busy month of Christmas readiness and countdown to the New Year?

This episode will encourage you and get to the ‘why’ of exercising.  There will be several ideas to keep yourself moving whether you are at home or on the road.

The holidays are busy, but movement can still be part of faithful stewardship. From roadside jumping jacks to hotel workouts with resistance bands, consistency matters more than perfection. Even when motivation is low, choosing strength training, walking, and functional movement honors God and prepares us to serve others well. Caring for our bodies through eating well, Mediterranean diet recipes, stress management, and time management helps us stay vital, fruitful, and ready for God’s purposes—now and in the generations to come.

It’s the first week of December, and are you stressed with the month already?  Has the mountain of to-do’s felt overwhelming?  Are you wanting some peace in the midst of your busy life?

In this episode, we are going to dive into 4 tactical strategies to help manage stress so you can have peace this Christmas.

December is full of celebrations, family commitments, and honoring the birth of Jesus, which can bring both joy and stress. True peace comes from Christ, the Prince of Peace, and is nurtured through intentional stress management. Practical strategies include delegating tasks for better time management, taking short walks with deep breathing, playing worship or Christmas music, and creating small moments of joy like journaling or eating well. Simple acts—mindful meals, Mediterranean diet recipes, strength training, and rest—help reduce overwhelm and keep our hearts centered on Christ during the busy season.

Have you done the major preparations for Christmas already, and you’re sitting pretty relaxed as you start this month?... or are you looking at December  like a deer in headlights?  Are you looking at the calendar and wondering how your family will be able to navigate the jungle of events squeezed in the first 2 weeks of December?

In this episode, we are going to look at tactical strategies to handle the overwhelm of to-do’s for the first 2 weeks of December.  I am also going to  discuss how we can get ready for Christmas internally as we do all the things to get ready externally for Christmas.

December’s first two weeks are a busy rush of events and logistics. To reduce overwhelm, focus on time management: prioritize time-sensitive tasks, calendar everything, communicate schedules, and plan daily by choosing 2 must-do tasks. Prepare not only externally but internally for Christmas through stress management and faith: daily Bible reading and prayer, eating well with protein-rich, Mediterranean diet recipes for breakfast, journaling for self-care reflection, and an evening routine of facial massage, breathing, and prayer. Care for body and spirit—through nourishment, reflection, and even gentle strength training—to finish the year grounded and strong.

Have you ever wondered what people do with those elastic sheets that stretch?  Do you want a portable option to keep up with strength training while on your travels?
This episode is for you if you are looking to start strength training and don’t want to spend a lot of money on tools.

After a shoulder injury from overtraining, I healed through six months of at-home physical therapy using resistance bands—an experience that launched my strength training journey. Resistance bands are affordable, portable, and space-saving, making them ideal for busy seasons of life. Start with the right band, focus on proper form, progress gradually, and aim for balanced full-body workouts with adequate recovery. Consistency matters more than intensity. Paired with eating well, Mediterranean diet recipes, stress management, and time management, strength training supports long-term health, mobility, and the ability to fully show up for what God calls you to do.

Are you wondering how to navigate this Thanksgiving and Christmas season with your health intact?  Do you want to stay consistent with your health goals through Thanksgiving?
Today’s episode is going to be a pep talk to encourage you to find ways to stick to your healthy lifestyle and to your long term health by making a mental commitment before the holidays.

Early on, avoiding Thanksgiving food felt disciplined but created tension and backfired. Over time, I learned a moderate, intentional approach works best—planning balanced meals, contributing nutrient-dense dishes, and eating a small snack beforehand to support eating well. Preparing mentally before the holidays prevents overindulgence disguised as “once a year” treats. This year, I committed to movement, micro workouts, strength training, and family-focused habits. Simple systems like meal plans, Mediterranean diet recipes, community support, stress management, and time management make healthy choices sustainable through the holiday season.

Do you or a loved one face pre-diabetes and you’re wondering how to tackle the Thanksgiving dinner?  Are you afraid that you may have to skip the Thanksgiving meal because of all the carbs?  Is the thought of going to a family Thanksgiving meal stressing you out?

In this episode, I’m going over 4 strategies to tackle the Thanksgiving meal so that everyone can partake and enjoy this season of thanksgiving together as a family.

Thanksgiving meals can honor tradition while supporting eating well, even for a prediabetic diet. Choose one non-negotiable favorite, then plan a balanced menu with low-glycemic vegetables, lean proteins, and simple swaps inspired by Mediterranean diet recipes. Modify dishes thoughtfully, offer smart beverages, and prep ahead to reduce stress. Flexibility allows cultural traditions and health to coexist, keeping the focus on gratitude, family, and ease. Pair mindful holiday eating with strength training, stress management, and good time management for overall wellness.

Are you in a self care rut?  Do you feel drained from pouring into your family?  Are you feeling stuck on what you can do to feel healthy and to feel better?

Today we’re going to get into the weeds of strategy and the number one routine you can start to feel better again.  Let’s dive it!

Developing morning and evening routines helps meet basic self-care needs amid life’s chaos. Start by defining clear, purposeful goals—like strength training, stress management, or quiet time with God—and identify 1–2 habits to support them. Use time management to schedule routines realistically, track progress for consistency, and adjust as needed. Build in flexibility and self-compassion for life’s interruptions. Consistently following routines supports eating well, incorporating Mediterranean diet recipes, and overall health, enabling you to care for yourself and your family while making a generational impact.

Proverbs 3:6
Proverbs 16:9

Hey Friend!
Is there a family history of diabetes?  Has the doctor given you a heads up about being careful to manage prediabetes?  Do you know anyone with prediabetes, or is struggling to manage it?  Then this is the episode for you.  I believe that in this day and age, we know at least one person that either deals with diabetes or prediabetes.  Please share this episode to encourage your loved ones and also to be equipped to support one another along this journey.

In this episode, I’ll briefly go over what it means to be prediabetic and what entails a prediabetic diet.  Then we’ll dive into 4 strategies to stick to a prediabetic diet and finally, we’ll end with some encouraging words.

My family history of diabetes shows that type 2 diabetes can affect anyone, not just those who are overweight. Early testing, awareness of prediabetes, and lifestyle changes can prevent progression. Focusing on eating well with balanced plates, inspired by Mediterranean diet recipes, helps stabilize blood sugar. Practical strategies include keeping food simple, planning one meal a day, batch prepping, and leaning on support. Pair nutrition with strength training, stress management, and good time management. Progress—not perfection—matters.
Waiting on the Lord brings renewed strength for the journey.
